My contribution to Norm’s Thursday Doors this week is doors with a nautical theme. The door with a porthole is similar to one I included in an earlier post, but it comes from a coastal port in Cornwall, instead of Ireland. Maybe, over time, the porthole got miniaturized to become the peephole that is now a common feature in doors?

I like them both, Nick, but they’re certainly very different. I love the bright, cheerful colors of the second one. The first has the feel of right and tight little ship.

You are right, Janet, there is a very different tone between the first door and the second. Something like comparing a submarine (the Seawitch) with a cruise ship (the Mermaid).

Lovely set of doors, both with a nautical theme but so different. :>)

These doors are so eye-catching! I can’t decide which one is my favorite because they are both so cute! 🙂

I took a photo of the Mermaid cottage in Kinsale, too. It’s gorgeous, isn’t it? So colourful, like many other properties in the town. I love that Sea Witch cottage, it’s like something out of a fairytale.
