This is the first step towards reaching my ultimate goal of displaying some of my photographic images in a public space.
I live in Toronto Ontario with my partner Jeanne. We moved here in 2014 after spending many years living in Victoria BC, where I retired from working as a provincial government employee.
My education and background are in architecture and planning. My interest in photography began when I was in architecture school in Vancouver in the 1970’s. I have fond memories of purchasing my first Canon camera, working in the darkroom with fellow students, and experimenting with various media, including silk screen printing and animation. When I graduated, my graphic design interests led me to work with architects and planners in various visual communication projects.
Moving ahead a few years, I left my “experimental” experiences behind me and found more traditional work in my chosen profession. Photography was just a hobby.
When digital cameras appeared, my photographic interests were rejuvenated. Here was a tool where I could take photos and develop them in my computer. No darkroom and enlarger required, and no messy chemicals to deal with.
Traveling has also been a big interest to me, so my travel bug and my camera bug became entwined. As a result, many of my images were taken on trips to some of my favourite destinations in the UK, Europe and Australia.
Now that I have retired from my previous working life, my photography has become a major interest. I would like to share some of my favourite images and get some feedback from other viewers to see what may attract other peoples’ interest and attention.
