May 24 to 30, 2020 This week in Ontario we glimpsed the first semblance of a plan for how the government will proceed with the re-opening of the province. Previously, Premier Doug Ford had stuck to the mantra that the province will only open on a province-wide basis, with no regional variations, based on expert medical advice. This week, the province’s 34 regional public health directors published the scientific criteria that they would use to determine how ready their public health district is to proceed with re-opening of services, and implement further restrictions if necessary. May 17 to 23, 2020 Just over a week ago, there was a good editorial in The Globe and Mail newspaper regarding future economic growth as we emerge from under the shadow of the novel coronavirus. Various economical forecasts have used a letter from the alphabet to depict how the economy may respond – including the letters W, V and L. The editorial turned around a phrase which I thought was worth interpreting as a watercolour painting, which is the subject of this week’s diary.
